A railway man rescues a baby girl after a train crash, raises her as a daughter and eventually falls in love with her. Of the film, Jean Cocteau said “There is cinema before and after La Roue, as there is painting before and after Picasso.” Originally over nine hours long and shown across three days, what has survived of the film comes from a variety of sources.
