M.I.G. Welder - Guided Access

M.I.G. Welder - Guided Access In-Person

Sign up here to use BLDG 61's M.I.G. Welder. Ages 14 and up. 

Students younger than 14 may be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

All welding is for mild steel alloys unless arranged in advance. Please send questions to "bldg61@boulderlibrary.org".


***IN-PERSON TRAINING REQUIRED PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR THIS EVENT*** M.I.G. Welder Tool Orientation occurs on select Mondays from 4:30-6:30, weather permitting. See the calendar link at BLDG61.org for details.

 

BLDG 61 provides basic cutting, drilling, grinding, and shaping tools, material cleaning supplies and all required safety equipment. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own safety equipment. 

 

CLASS OCCURS OUTSIDE! Classes or work sessions may be cancelled at any time due to weather, at the discretion of BLDG 61 staff.  

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Patrons must wear NON-SYNTHETIC clothing including, shirt, full-length pants, and closed-toed full shoe.   

  • Patrons must use safety glasses, hair ties, face shields, leather gloves, auto-dark helmets, full-sleeve jackets.   

  • Patrons must be willing to share all provided safety equipment or supply their own.   

  • Patrons must be mindful of sparks and flashes produced by grinding or welding.   

  • Patrons must be willing to work with mineral spirits, denatured alcohol and/or other solvents if needed to clean stock materials.  

  • Patrons must understand and apply all shop etiquette as required to move in and out of the welding area via the wood shop.  

  • All safety requirements strictly enforced. 

 

All attendees must fill out our Acknowledgement of Risk and Release Form prior to use of makerspace.
