Stitch Our Stories

Stitch Our Stories

Learn how to cross-stitch as we gather to express our experiences during the pandemic through stitching. Heather D Schulte will share about the larger project (Stitching the Situation) and will assist participants in troubleshooting designs and help with any stitching questions.

The event will be outdoors on "The Green", part of West Civic Park, adjacent to the Boulder Creek outside the Canyon Blvd entrance of the Main Library. Registration is requested, as space is limited to allow for social distancing and allotting materials. You are welcome to arrive any time between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for this casual hang out and stitch gathering.

Masks are welcome: We appreciate people wearing masks and socially distancing while attending a library program for the safety of all, including those who aren’t yet able to be vaccinated. We'll have designated masks required and masks optional tables for people's comfort and choice.

Materials kits will be available for pick up July 7-21 at the Main Library and Meadows Branch Library* if you'd like to get started before this event. If you do collect a kit ahead of time, please bring it to the workshop. A limited number of accessibility kits with fabric with larger squares per inch are intended for individuals with manual dexterity or visual impairments.

Participants are invited to contribute a completed 6" square in collaborative community tapestry. If participants feel comfortable, they will be invited to share a small testimony about their square, which can be displayed alongside the work. A limited number of 6" square kits will be available during this event for participants who did not collect a kit ahead of time. Each kit will contain two cross-stitch squares, one to keep and one to contribute if you wish.
