Community Cooks: Pupusas Familia Online

Join us for "Community Cooks". We invite you to gather online with us for a virtual dinner party and cooking demo. A new cook every month will be sharing recipes close to their heart and culture. Ingredients lists will be released a week prior so you can cook along! 

 This month's cooks: Franklin Escobar (with @familiapupusas) and his aunt will be making spinach and cheese pupusas. Pupusas are the most well known Salvadorian dish. It is a hand made corn stuffed tortilla that you serve with curtido (coleslaw) and tomato salsa. There are so many flavors you can make, from a delicious vegan one to a yummy cheese one you can add your favorite veggies into. They are 100% gluten free.

Ingredients List:


* maseca (they can found this product at Walmart, or Mexicans stores) masa they usually come in a 4 pound bag
Pupusas

Spinach & cheese pupusa
* Masa
* 1/2 pound mozzarella cheese 
* 4 cups spinach
* 1/4carrots 
*  1 Garlic 
* salt & pepper (to taste)
* olive oil 


Curtido ( coleslaw)

* 1-cabbage
* 2-jalapeños
* 1-carrot
* vinegar (whatever they prefer)
* a pinch of dried orégano 
* 1/2-red onions 
* salt pepper (to taste)

Tomatoe salsa

* 4 roma Tomatoes
* 1/4 White Onions
* 1Jalapeño 
Salt pepper (to taste)


They will need a cutting board, knife, blender, a little flattop or they can use a flat pan.
