Michelle Denae (she/her) is a local Chicana, mother, and student, who is dedicated to service to her community. As one of the organizers of Families of Color Colorado, she helps facilitate a space where children and their families can share experiences and advocate for each other as a group. Most recently she served on the Police Oversight Task Force for the City of Boulder, working alongside community members and the department to build accountability and equity for officers and civilians in kind. In her free time, she is on her bike, camping with her boys, or working on their first children’s book.

Marissa Tafura (she/her) is a White anti-racist educator and activist. She is co-founder of Boulder’s Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) chapter and SURJ Families of Boulder County, organizations focused on engaging White people in a multracial movement for change. Marissa has been exploring issues of culture, race, and power with students at the University of Colorado for more than a decade. She is known as a facilitator skilled in supporting other White people in accountability and action for social change.
