The Library Concert Series Presents: Charmed Rendezvous: Parisian Music for Two Pianos In-Person
Lisa Harrington & Matt Goodrich--pianists
Charmed Rendezvous: Parisian Music for two pianos
It was an extraordinary time, an extraordinary place. Paris at the turn of the 20th century – where writers, artists, composers and dancers from all over the world came to immerse themselves in a luminous city devoted to the pursuit of pleasure, and where savoring beauty was an art in itself.
Poised between decadence and modernism, two brilliant pianists devoted their talents to the composers of the Parisian avant garde:
Ricardo Viñes and Marcelle Meyer were at the center of many of the exciting and sometimes scandalous premieres of the music of Debussy, Satie, Ravel, Stravinsky, as well as the postwar composers known as the Group of Six.
Join pianists Lisa Harrington and Matt Goodrich on a journey through the life and times of these two remarkable figures. We’ll present works for two pianos along with stories and images that bring to life the golden age of French music.
