Write Your Life in Poetry In-Person
Discover and develop your inner poet with Radha Marcum (author of the award-winning collection, Bloodline). As U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith says, “Rather than numbing or drowning out the difficult-to-describe but urgently sensed feelings that are part of being human, poetry invites us to tease them out, to draw them into language that is rooted in intricate thought and strange impulse.” We will cover essential practices for transforming personal experience into poetry, exploring poetic techniques that focus and distill life’s messy details into poems that really sing—that connect with readers simply, directly, memorably. No writing experience is required; all you need to bring is an open mind, a willingness to experiment, and your writing instrument of choice. One-time or repeat students welcome.
