Fiber Fest

  • Weaving fun! Watch demonstrations or try weaving yourself. We’ll have several different looms for you to play with.

  • Weaving make and take. Weave a small wall hanging of paper and thread, and take it home with you.

  • Spinning! See how yarn is made on a spinning wheel and a drop spindle. You can try spinning, too, on our selection of drop spindles, spinning sticks and wheels.

  • Yarn fun. Learn how to crochet, knit, or make a pompom—or all three!

  • Learn how fleece from a sheep becomes yarn.

  • Indigo dyeing. Create a resist design on fabric and discover the magic of indigo dyeing.

  • Screening of Woven Lives, a documentary about weavers weaving traditions in Oaxaca, Mexico at 12:30 p.m. in the Canyon Theater.

Bring the whole family and weave your way into the fiber arts!

This event was inspired to celebrate Schacht Spindle Company's 50th anniversary. Schacht and the Boulder Library Foundation sponsor this event. Please thank our sponsors and the dozens of fiber volunteers help make this event possible!

If parking is full in the library lots, we recommend using the parking near St. Julien at 10th and Walnut (free parking on Saturday.)

If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please sign up for a volunteer shift on August 10 and the volunteer training on Thursday, August 8, 4-5 p.m. If you are unable to attend the training, please show up early to your shift for on the spot training!
