Doris' Sunday Matinee "Modern Times" In-Person
Directed by Charlie Chaplin, featuring Charlie Chaplin, Paulette Goddard, Chester Conkin (1936). As assembly-line worker loses his mid after being used as a test subject for an automated feeding device designed to boost worker productivity. Hospitalized and released, he befriends a waif girl. Together they experience joy and misfortune. Chaplin’s late, first sound film is heavy on sound effects and essentially without dialog. Music composed by Charlie Chaplin. (87 min.)
