Concert Series Presents: Playground Ensemble In-Person
Denver’s Playground Ensemble presents Peter Maxwell Davies’ masterpiece Eight Songs for a Mad King. This outrageous, highly theatrical piece presents an unflattering portrait of an unstable, unbalanced world leader obsessed with his pet project, who descends into madness, commits a shockingly and senselessly violent act, and eventually proclaims his own death and delivers his own eulogy.
Joining the Playground will be Serena Chopra: teacher, writer, dancer, filmmaker, soundscape designer and a visual and performance artist. As part of her Fulbright Scholarship, she is currently composing a hybrid and interdisciplinary work that explores narratives of queer Indian and Indian American women, transmen and gender non-conforming folks. She will read from her work Queerly is the Night.
