CSED Week: Getting it right the second time - troubleshooting and debug tips for Arduino projects

CSED Week: Getting it right the second time - troubleshooting and debug tips for Arduino projects In-Person

Of course, we always try to get our projects- both hardware and software- to work the first time we create them, but sometimes they don’t. The goal becomes to get them right the second time. The key step is to find the root cause of the error and fix the source of the problem.

In the first hour, we’ll look at five simple habits to increase the chance of getting it right the first time, and debug tricks which will help you figure out what went wrong to get it right the second time. A little bit of familiarity with Arduinos will be helpful, especially if you’ve already encountered sketches or projects that did not work the first time. The second part of the workshop, Lindsay Craig will assist participants as they work on their own projects.

Participants should bring their own laptop with Arduino installed. Otherwise the library has laptops which participants can use on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are welcome to bring their own Arduinos, and Tinkermill and the Boulder Library will supply additional Arduino kits. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Registration required.

Workshop leader, Dr. Eric Bogatin, Adjunct Prof, CU, Boulder, Tinkermill Arduino Instructor

Supportive instruction, Lindsay Craig
