How can one plant produce teas that taste like apricots, orchids, toasted grain, seaweed, chocolate, flowers, honey, smoke, or fresh spring grass? In this interactive tasting inspired by her book 101 Teas to Steep Before You Die, tea author and The Tea Spot founder Maria Uspenski takes you on a flavorful journey through the extraordinary world of tea.
Together, we'll taste a carefully chosen selection of teas from different regions, traditions, and processing styles, exploring how one remarkable plant, Camellia sinensis, becomes an astonishingly diverse world of flavor and experience. We'll travel through geography, history, cultivation, processing, and craftsmanship, discovering why teas from the same plant can look, smell, taste, and even feel so completely different. Along the way, Maria will share stories from more than two decades of sourcing tea around the world, including the gardens, growers, and tea makers she's come to know along the way.
No prior tea knowledge is necessary. Come curious, taste along, and leave with a ceramic tea tasting cup and a new appreciation for just how much there is to discover in a cup of tea.
