SUMMARY:Earth Lab presentation: Creative applications of drones for ecology
DESCRIPTION:Learn how the University of Colorado Boulder Earth Lab is using 
 drones to study and protect the environment.  Dr. Nayani Ilangakoon and 
 Nate Hofford will share how the Earth Lab team developed a drone-based 
 method for detecting young trees regenerating within Front Range burn 
 scars. By applying this approach across multiple past fires\, researchers 
 can measure thousands of seedlings to better understand the environmental 
 factors that influence forest recovery. Danyan Leng will discuss how drones 
 can unobtrusively detect wildlife and monitor biodiversity to support 
 conservation decisions. This approach can help researchers locate animals 
 that are difficult to observe using traditional methods such as camera 
 traps and ground-based surveys\n\nFollow up to this presentation on
