Chop Shop: Community Dye Bath: Brown and Purple In-Person
Refresh what you already own by giving it a new color. Bring one small, lightweight plant-based, natural fiber garment, like a t-shirt or button-up made of cotton, linen, or hemp to dye. Please make sure garments are light colors and recently washed!
Fiber reactive dye in brown and purple as well as all dye tools will be provided.
Participates will take their item home to wash out. Dyers detergent will be provided.
Chop Shop is an invitation to reimagine our wardrobes and empower participants to take agency over the fit, styling, and embellishment of their clothing. We’ll upcycle by shopping our own closets with a different focus each week. In this workshop style class, we will brainstorm techniques and practice skills to achieve your unique fashion goals. Chop Shop is not a place for your most precious garments, but instead a place to play with items that aren’t quite right. Previous sewing experience is encouraged but not required and bravery can go a long way. Let’s go chopping!
