MahlerFest: Songs of Parents & Children In-Person
MahlerFest musicians perform a trio for piano, cello, and clarinet by Alexander Zemlinksy, a composer who was once in love with the future Alma Mahler. The second half of the program features Gustav Mahler's song cycle Kindertotenlieder, with text by Friedrich Rückert. Mahler quotes from these songs in his Ninth Symphony that closes the festival on Sunday, May 17.
