Raised in Silence: Communication, Culture, and the CODA Experience In-Person
Author Maria Gallucci will discuss her book Raised in Silence and her experience growing up as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). Gallucci will explore the complexities of growing up between Deaf and hearing worlds, reflecting on themes of communication, culture, identity, and connection. An ASL interpreter will be present for this event. Additionally, a limited supply of FM assistive listening devices will be available.

Please use the North Side Canyon Entrance if arriving after 6:30 p.m. Parking is available in both the Canyon and Arapahoe lots. To reach the theater from the Arapahoe lot, you can cross the creek using the exterior bridge. Doors for after hours events typically close 30 minutes after the event starts.

Maria Gallucci is a multi-award-winning real estate agent and proud CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). Growing up as one of six hearing children raised by Deaf parents, she learned ASL before English and helped her parents buy a home at just 12 years old. This experience shaped her passion for inclusive communication. Maria Gallucci serves on boards for Rocky Mountain Deaf School, DOVE, and Colorado Association of the Deaf. Her motto "just try" reflects her belief that meaningful connection starts with one small step.
