Goal Setting for Writers

Goal Setting for Writers In-Person

Would you like to make more progress on a writing project? Have you made a writing-related resolution but don't know where to start? Join us for this goal setting workshop for writers! We'll explore how setting goals can help us focus on our dreams, identify obstacles, and complete our writing projects.

In this workshop, participants will each fill out a personal goal setting handout to identify goals and obstacles. Together, we will learn ways to reflect on our writing processes thoughtfully. Participants should expect both writing and discussion.

Everyone is welcome, no writing experience is necessary! Notebooks, pens, and snacks will be provided.

Laura L. B. Border, PhD in French Literature, served as president of the Boulder Writers Alliance from 2021–2025 and continues to lead the monthly BWA Poetry Circle. Previously, she directed the Graduate Teacher Program (now the Teaching Center) at CU Boulder for 31 years. Working with graduate students’ issues while writing their dissertations, she developed a goal setting model to help them. For this workshop, Laura has adapted her model for writers in general. You can follow Laura on LinkedIn or on her blog at https://laurellecommunications.blog/
