Beneath the Surface of Things - JLF Colorado: International Literature Festival

Cultural anthropologist, ethnobotanist, and writer Wade Davis’ latest book, Beneath the Surface of Things, is a wide-ranging collection of luminous and provocative essays that unearth the headlines and histories that we think we know. He brings a lifetime of fieldwork and cultural immersion to the demonization of coca, the sacred plant of the Incas, as well as the Great War, and the British conquest of Everest. In conversation with Patricia Limerick, he discusses this expansive and timely collection, and the urgent need to rethink the way we inhabit our planet.
