At the Edge of Empire: A Family's Reckoning With China - JLF Colorado: International Literature Festival
Part memoir, part reportage, Edward Wong’s At the Edge of Empire, spans over eighty years of family history, intertwined with a documentation of Chinese politics. A front-row glimpse into the rise of a modern superpower, Wong delicately crafts a tale of power and politics, while simultaneously exploring the impacts on his own family. In conversation with Maeve Conran, Wong elucidates on the events detailed in his writing, and reflects on the interplay between the personal and political.
