Blueprints: How Mathematics Shapes Creativity - JLF Colorado: International Literature Festival

Oxford mathematician Marcus du Sautoy's recent book,  Blueprints: How Mathematics Shaped Creativity, demonstrates the transformative power of mathematics in the creative world. Drawing on examples from Shakespeare’s use of mathematical axioms to Pixar’s animation techniques, Du Sautoy argues that the intersection of math and art is more than just functional—rather, he sees it as a source of inspiration. Discover how mathematical concepts like symmetry, fractals, and primes have influenced music, art, and literature, and how creativity might unlock new mathematical insights. Marcus du Sautoy in conversation with Sanjoy K Roy.
