Ideas of Eve: Evolutionary Feminism - JLF Colorado: International Literature Festival

Ideas of Eve: Evolutionary Feminism - JLF Colorado: International Literature Festival

The female body has historically served as both canvas and battleground onto which the world splatters shifting ideas of control, power, and knowledge. Researcher and scholar Cat Bohannon rewrites the oversight of women’s bodies in evolutionary biology once again with Eve, a friendly, funny, engaging, and multidisciplinary account of how our bodies came to be.

Academic and novelist Sonora Jha, author of How To Raise A Feminist Son, reimagines what it means to raise boys with feminist values in today’s world. In her novels, The Laughter, and the forthcoming Intemperance, she writes characters that push the boundaries of female desire. Together, in conversation with Patricia Limerick, they discuss the politics of gender in literature and the role played by women in reshaping cultural narratives across history.
