Experiments in Public Art Lecture Series: Sarah and Joseph Belknap in Fellowship with the Sun In-Person
The Office of Arts and Culture presents a lecture series as part of the Experiments in Public Art program, which serves as a city-wide laboratory expanding the potential of public art. Unlike a traditional public art, Experiments in Public Art projects are as much a civic dialogue as they are opportunities for artists to work within unconventional parameters. The lecture series is a chance for the Boulder community to learn more about the program and what the possibilities of public art can be.
In today's lecture /workshop, we will start with a hello to the sun by going out and observing any sun spots that may be visible. We will also begin to imagine the 93 million miles that separate us from the time it takes sunlight to reach us - sunshades provided. We will hear a short lecture about stories, mythologies, and ways humans have observed the sun since records have existed, including the record of the architecture of our own human eyeballs. This workshop is orchestrated by Sarah and Joseph Belknap, artists, educators, and yes, we are art-science nerd people
This event is organized by a community partner and hosted by the Boulder Public Library.
