STUDIO 24, UCAR Special Event: Bringing the Sun to your Fingertips In-Person
Join UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research) | NSF NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) scientist Daniela Lacatus for a special solar science and art experience at STUDIO 24 Makerspace in the NoBo library. We will explore how the Sun’s activity drives space weather and learn how that impacts our lives on Earth.
This workshop includes a short talk, guided observations of the sun’s features outdoors (weather-permitting) using scientific instruments, and a solar-inspired printmaking activity. Each participant will create and take home their own personalized poster of the sun that represents the knowledge shared during this experience.
This workshop is appropriate for all ages, but youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult according to Makerspace policy.
