Length 15 minutes

SYNOPSIS
Far from their homeland, many Muslim immigrants from Colorado brought the traditions, customs, and rituals of iftar to America to share with their new neighbors during each month of Ramadan. Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. All healthy adult Muslims must, for 1 month, abstain from eating and drinking every year from sunrise to sunset. Today, we're at Café Paprika restaurant in Aurora, Colorado, to spend time with Chef Chakib MARRAKCHI, the founder. An immigrant from Morocco and North Africa, he brought Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine and spices to Colorado, building bridges between communities across borders.

In a devasted country from years of genocide, high crime rates and unemployment; some young entrepreneurial Congolese reinvented a two-wheeled, handmade wooden scooter called Chukudu used in to transport goods and people from one neighborhood to another. The chukudu is a key part of the local culture, day to day living and has been in use since the mid-1900s.
