Italian Film Festival: "Gloria!" Screening

Italian Film Festival: "Gloria!" Screening In-Person

"Gloria" begins in the late 1700s. Teresa, nicknamed “the Mute” because she never speaks and no one knows where she is from, is a maid tasked with the humblest chores at Sant’Ignazio College, a religious institution for girls near Venice. There, residents are musically trained by stern chapel master Perlina. One day, a local craftsman gifts the Institute a modern and immediately distrusted instrument: a piano. Relegated to the basement, Teresa finds it and begins to explore the keys, unlocking her musical talents and attracting the attention of the girls upstairs. When news arrives of an imminent visit by the Pope, the Institution is thrown into chaos. With Perlina distracted, the girls gather secretly, taking turns on the piano where they begin to compose something new and exciting
