STUDIO 24 Gelli Plate Printing In-Person
Melanie Yazzie, professor of printmaking at the University of Colorado Boulder, will lead an intimate monotype printing workshop.
Using monotype as the primary technique, workshop participants will learn how to use Gelli plates to create their own richly layered compositions through one or more impressions and countless design variations. During the monotype printing process, artists will work with various stencils that each artist will create to tell a story of who they are. With this style of printmaking, options are endless and mixing and matching imagery has the potential open many new paths.
All supplies will be provided, and attendees will take home 4-5 finished monotype prints that are approx. 8” x 10” in size that they will create during the workshop.
Boulder Public Library presents Printmaking Studio in STUDIO 24! During this 3-month focus (January–March 2025), we invite patrons to immerse themselves in printmaking with workshops, classes, and drop-in activities featuring relief printing, screen printing, etching, monoprinting, collagraph, letterpress, and beyond! Workshops will be led by our Maker in Residence Andi Newberry, as well as a talented team of community partners, and Makerspace staff. Join us to explore the art of printmaking and share in the joy of creating and learning in a community space.
