About the Presenter:
Kristel Jelinek Brown
Co-Founder/Director
(she/her) is a Colorado-based theater-maker, applied theatre practitioner, educator, and "artivist." She brings with her over twenty years of experience as a performer spanning from regional theater, national tours, and the cruise ships/casino industries. Additionally, she has worked as a teaching artist, facilitator, and director/choreographer for over ten years. Kristel received a BFA in Theatrical Performance from the University of Colorado (Boulder) and an MA in Applied Theater from the City University of New York. She served as the Director of Voice and Theatrical programming at Parlando School of Musical Arts from 2015-2020, and has worked as a director/choreographer and teaching artist with organizations such as the Denver Center for Performing Arts, Beam +, Metropolitan State University, the Crested Butte Music Festival, the Bayview Music Festival, Spellbound Theater, the CAT Youth Theater, and numerous community organizations in the Denver-metro Area. Kristel is currently in the process of getting certified as a holistic sexuality educator through the Institute of Sexuality Education and Enlightenment (ISEE). With a pedagogy rooted social justice work and community-based arts, she is passionate about radical, human-centered democratization of the arts, creating space for authentic dialogue, and making the arts accessible to everyone. She has co-created theater and dance with humans from all walks of life, ages, and abilities. Kristel currently resides in Broomfield with her partner, two children, and 12lb pup, Peggy.
