National History Day: What’s the Difference Between a Thesis and a Topic Sentence? Online
Calling all National History Day participants! This twenty-minute zoom presentation provides an introduction to academic writing and the central role played by a strong thesis, followed by Q&A. Everyone knows what a topic sentence is, right? But what is a thesis statement and what is the difference between a thesis and a topic sentence? What kinds of questions might a thesis answer? How does a provisional thesis guide the discovery process and how might it evolve throughout the discovery process?
