Sourdough Bread

Sourdough Bread In-Person

Learn to make sourdough bread with a tangy, open crumb inside a crisp rustic crust in a home kitchen using the Tartine Bread method. We will make the levain, the dough, see and feel what it should look like at the end of bulk fermentation and then shape the loaves. You will take home recipe instructions, helpful video links, and mature sourdough starter, so you can begin baking the next day. The final step to bake Tartine Bread requires a very hot oven, so no baking will be done during the class. As an extra treat, taste a sourdough bread sample baked ahead of time with some library honey! Besides baking bread for the last 15 years, Tracy Bellehumeur is one of the BeeChicas spreading pollinator education and caring for the beehives on the library roof. Ages 16 - Adult, registration required.
