Thursday Cinema "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors"

Directed by Sergei Paradjanov, featuring Ivan Mikolaichuk, Larisa Kadochnikova, Tatiana Bestayeva, Spartak Bagashivili (U.S.S.R.─1964). Ayoung boy’s brother is killed and his father murdered and he lives in poverty with his mother. He falls in love with the daughter of his father’s murderer, but their love ends prematurely with her sudden death and he enters a loveless marriage, haunted by tragic memories. Based on Ukranian writer Mikail Kotzyubinsky’s folktales of the Karpati Mountains and set in the nation of the Gutsuls where the Hutzul tribe lived. In Ukranian with subtitles.
