Silent Films with Rodney Sauer In-Person
Watch short silent films with live musical accompaniment by Rodney Sauer of the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. Fun for the whole family!
No reservations required. Sponsored by the Boulder Library Foundation.
Goodnight Nurse!
In honor of the 100th Anniversary of comedian Buster Keaton’s first appearance on film, we’ll show a very early collaboration with his friend Roscoe Arbuckle. In "Good Night Nurse," Roscoe Arbuckle is an alcoholic sent to a sanatarium to dry out. Keaton has a memorable bit part as a love-struck doctor.
My Stars!
This rarely seen comedy stars the mostly forgotten Johnny Arthur, and was directed by Roscoe Arbuckle under a pseudonym. Johnny’s girlfriend is infatuated with movie stars, and every time she receives an autographed picture from one, Johnny decides that the way to win her heart is to impersonate that star, leading to funny parodies of Milton Sills, Douglas Fairbanks, and Harold Lloyd.
Pass the Gravy.
Max Davidson plays a long-suffering father in this tale of recent immigrants, who lives next door to a man who raises prize chickens. When the children of the two become engaged, Max throws an engagement dinner, with unfortunate results. Well… unfortunate for the prize rooster, at least.
