#TreeOpp transforms an environmental challenge into art and social change through community innovation. In partnership with Parks and Recreation and Bridge House, participants from the Ready to Work program are receiving expert training at BLDG 61 to turn Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)-infested wood debris into crafts, furniture and functional products that will be for purchase later this year. Bridge House is a non-profit dedicated to equipping homeless individuals with employable skill sets and guidance to find stable housing within 12-month periods, and BLDG 61 is adding woodworking as area of focus to participants.
This project is funded by a Knight Cities grant.
